it turns out I have a *floor*
May. 31st, 2003 01:38 pmA good 3.5 hours into room cleaning, I've vacuumed most of my floor that isn't under my bed, have papers sorted out into piles all over my bed plus one big yet-unsorted stack on the floor, and am reaching that point where it starts to look "good enough" that laziness starts to balance out the will to keep going. But nay, I will persevere, verily unto the tops of my dresser and the things in the corners! More Permanent Organisation shall be miiiiine!
I've found a few amusing things: the beg letter from Sigma Xi addressed to "Dr. My Name" (few years early there, guys), and an invitation to a local talk that I unfortunately missed by (Swat's own) Barry Schwartz on "Too Many Choices: Who Suffers and Why": "Americans value freedom of choice perhaps above all else, but as choices increase, they can be transformed from instruments of freedom into instruments of tyranny, threatening happiness, well-being, self-esteem, and optimism." Almost more than the talk I'd really like to have seen the audience response...
Room cleaning music so far: "Once More With Feeling", "Man of La Mancha", Jane Siberry... gonna walk through the fire, dream the impossible dream, and do something about that bag of newspapers...
