Apparently the Nebs looked over at the Hugos and were like "you know what we need, we need more Drama"? Would not have been my call but I'm not in SFWA so this isn't my circus. (Seriously, though, I am sympathetic to the many people in SFWA who didn't want this circus either, bleah.) Anyways, links about Nebula ballot slate drama:

Lego Movie 2
My favorite part of this movie was that at one point we see a scene of a whole bunch of 80s space Lego and I sat bolt upright in my seat and gasped in glee and Quentin reached over and patted me like yes Mom we know you're very excited. Anyways this was fine, not as good as the first one or the Batman one but better than the Ninjago one, had some good jokes and cute references, I liked that they showed Lego Friends and Lego playing together.

How To Train Your Dragon 3
Definitely felt like a weaker story than the first two but I love these movies so much. (Maybe someday we'll see if the TV show is any good.) I felt like there was really only one big question - were they going to do that - and (spoilers) Read more... ).

Ok, I'm being unfair, I do like Callum, and I'm definitely enjoying the show, and that was a much more thorough explanation of Rawls' veil of ignorance than I was expecting from an animated kids' fantasy show. It just... has sort of the same feeling as Lego 2, where there's this assumption about who gets to be at the center of the story and whose character development we're going to spend the most time watching happen onscreen. Chronin Vol 1: The Knife At Your Back, the first half of a graphic novel duology by Alison Wilgus. Time-traveling cross-dressing samurai! This was so good and I can't wait for the second half to come out in September. I don't want to say too much about it outside of a spoiler cut because I really enjoyed the way the story unfolded but it's awesome both for what it's doing sfnally as a time-travel story and for the character interactions.
