(Some previous thoughts on Paper Girls.)

Here are some things I think I can say without a spoiler cut: there is some very pleasing work with structure here, both in terms of narrative structure and in actual layout-on-the-page structure. Also I feel that Paper Girls as a whole was an excellent length, like, just right for the story; as linked above I had kind of lost faith around vol 3 when I wasn't convinced there was a big picture, but in retrospect there was a picture that was both pleasantly big but also manageable. (I just feel *so tired* when I think about volume 9 being only halfway through Saga.)

Also I think it's neat that this isn't even the best time-traveling lesbian comic of the year. :)

Here are some things I'm putting behind a spoiler cut: The amnesia was heartbreaking but also felt more narratively justified than these tragic-happy-endings tend to? (Dark Is Rising, Dark Materials... wait, does every series with "Dark" in it end painfully? Darkangel trilogy, check...) I like that they're all a little changed and that maybe some things will be able to be at least a little different. Or maybe not, depending on whether you think the older Erin and older Tiffany we met are locked in. (Also, hey, we got to see older KJ! And older KJ is looking *good*.) Just once though I'd love to see a story where a group of young people deliberately take away the hard-won experiences and character growth and choices of a bunch of adults... I love that KJ and Mac got a second kiss. Mac getting zapped mid-sentence and then "all that pain you're feeling is about to disappear too" is high-quality romance-angst, ahh. And really nice color work. I guess that didn't need to be behind the spoiler cut.
